FARM LIFE

my husband said we don't take enough risks... so with very little experience we bought a farm!! (it was that easy ~ NOT!!) at least three things a day happen that amaze me & i LOVE it!

Here they are ~ our 3 gorgeous guinea hens :)

There were 3 weeks old when got them & have just started getting their feathers.

They still need names... I was thinking the golden girls, you know, Rose, Blanche & Dorothy ~ but open to any other suggestions!!

So hopefully these ladies will be eating ticks & bugs around the place & will lay eggs. At the moment they are still under a lamp, but do get out.

Here they are enjoying the grass between their toes!!

WE ARE HERE...

anne nixon-ellery

holy moly ~ moving SUCKS!!!! no matter how we do it, the last boxes are just random things, not labelled & loads of them.

it was hard work ~ we left the truck we hired full of stuff over night, but when we got up at 5.30am to unload ~ it was pouring with rain... so we called the company & said can we have the truck for a few more hours, but, obviously no-one was there that early. so i called again at 7.30am & was told if we don't get the truck back by 8am we'd have to pay $500!!!

Good job we have AMAZING friends!! i called mark & graig & they arrived & we literally threw everything in the garage... then mike took back the truck. they didn't charge us (thank Buxtons you were awesome :)

Lots of cleaning ~ boxes everywhere... eating take out

I'm not moving again!! not just because I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Flynn's 7th Birthday party was here yesterday.

We have black vultures living in an outhouse, opposite the barn...

BOXES BOXES EVERYWHERE...

anne nixon-ellery

Well here we are on what Flynn called the 'move-eve'. I could do with at least another week to get everything done. Sooooooo tired, & now that I've sat down I don't think I can get up without applying WD40 to at a minimum my hip joints.

When I think back to the events that took place in this house I feel quite melancholy... we didn't have a kitchen for 3 months... We brought Flynn home from the hospital when he was born. Oscar had his second birthday. We both lost our jobs. Flynn had 2 surgeries. Mike got a new job. I started freelancing. Mike & I became American!!! The boys started school! They lost teeth... We had to say goodbye to Lennon :(     I met wonderful friends!!!!!

Tomorrow is a new era!! So excited!! I will crash Saturday...

PACKING PACKING PACKING...

anne nixon-ellery

I always tell my boys not to use the word hate... but I HATE PACKING!!!! Where did all this stuff come from!! I've been throwing things out, selling, donating, giving stuff away but it seems to replace itself!!

We are surrounded by walls of boxes ~ which I do have to admit make excellent forts, but aren't doing my nerves much good when I keep getting jumped out on.

Poor Winston, our terrier mix, is very unsettled & has become my shadow, sitting on my feet whenever possible, which is slowing down the process a little. He also is inspecting all the items placed into boxes & is only lacking a hard hat & clip board.

Ringo on the other hand is oblivious to it all.

& Hemingway keeps packing himself!!

I keep packing important things too... like the corkscrew... (found that pretty quickly!!), the potato peeler, my phone (thank goodness for icloud!!) ~ but thankfully not Mike's deodorant!!!
